Predicate Pigskin IV: Week 12
Posted by Ajax 14 weeks ago
All four divisions are now clinched, and Miah's Defenestrators surged ahead to clinch a playoff spot by snagging their seventh win. This will be their first playoff appearance since the original Plastic Fantasy Football league way back in 2004, so congratulations to them!
We're now left with one lonely playoff spot and three hopeful teams with a reasonable chance to claim it. Here's how the scenarios break down:
1. The Appalachian Trail Hikers are in the driver's seat after a rough start. They are in with a win next week.
2. The Chicago Rhyparographers can claim a berth with a win AND a loss or tie by both the Hikers and The Wrong Petersons; a win by the latter would require Chicago to make up around a 35-point deficit in PF to come out ahead.
3. The Wrong Petersons, for their part, need a win AND a loss or tie by both the Hikers and the Rhyparographers, or a win by the latter that doesn't erase their PF advantage.
Should all three squads lose (a possibility, since none of them play each other) then the field gets thrown open to include the Arcane Nitehawkez, Army of Darkness, Niagara Fails, and Edgewater Fustigators. Any of these teams that wins next week would finish as part of a dogpile at 6-7 overall, and have at least a .500 divisional record.
Bitterpants and the Fails would have the inside track among these dark horses, as they're a game above .500 in their division already; but if they crap out, the final playoff spot would fall to the 6-7 / 4-4 team with the highest number of PF, and the advantage would once again be with Colin and the Hikers, who have about 100 more points than everybody else.
